Re:Zero's use of the episodic format and cliffhangers is literally part of its charm, though. Haphazardly sticking two episodes together loses that. And the "Director's Cut" is not even a correct translation, the Japanese word is "Re-Edit" and it was only there to promote S2.

So there is a season 2 of Re: zERO The series at first was not intended to be continued so the last few episodes of season 1 will seem kinda endy But they edited the first few episodes of season 1 and season 2 to try to create continuity

The water falling on the hands made them visbile since it distorted the falling water. I believe that was an intentional combo move with the twins scream and wilhelm.
