I was that person. Watched all of season 1 and loved it. The next year, when the first episodes of season 2 were coming out, I watched the director's cut to refresh my memory.

It seems like a cleaner narrative experience to keep the seasons separate rather than watching the same bridging/teaser scene essentially twice.

I agree, it's hilarious. I don't know if they should maybe wait until after they start Season 2 though, for... reasons... Edit: I just rewatched it (the first time with the closed captions on, and man that adds a whole new layer of funny), and I'm more 50/50 on whether Autosave watches it now or later. I really don't know how to say without being spoilery. It'll be interesting either way.

i'd rather them just go straight to season 2. both ova's are just kinda filler. not as bad as slime isekai ova's(besides the last one), but still, dont add much of anything to the story.

As much as I prefer the directors cut in general I’d argue the opening scene makes the first episode of season 2 all the more memorable and sets the tone for what’s to come

Quick note for Ben: Betelgeuse was not a "Finger" of Sloth, he was the Sin Archbishop of Sloth. The Fingers were just 10 of Betelgeuse's strongest/most devoted followers, which he could use as vessels after his main body was defeated.

I find that end credits scene is good for the directors cut as a tease for season 2 for people rewatching the season, but I think it sours memory snow and frozen bond if you have that hanging over your head the entire time on first time viewing.

The OVAs are great. The first one is more on the funny side but has a lot of little eggs that come relevant in season 2. The second one is more on the serious side and sets important context for season 2, not needed to watch season 2 but definitely a plus.

Given that they haven't watched the directos cut, it seems like they will go into season 2 after the OVAs. Which makes more sense, the impact is better if there is no 2-year gap of waiting ahead, still screw that cliffhanger :P

FYI, there is an end credit scene to this episode that is put in the director's cut version of the episode. I would recommend watching that as well

It has been such a great ride watching season 1 of one of my top 2 anime with y’all. Hoping you’ll enjoy the OVAS before season 2 it’s been a joy hearing your insightful discussions and heartwarming to see how much you grew to love all the characters but especially can appreciate the ride subaru went through as a character and even in later light novel arcs that are currently getting adapted in season 3 sometime next year it just keeps going Also small reminder Subaru is who did the speech for rem first in episode 11 so it reflects that episode as well (Edit) insightful not insufficient lmao Sorry for that it’s 3am for me when these drop ☠️
