19:00 great point about the dialogue in this anime. The author is an amazingly talented writer who can convey the sense of unknown unlike any other and both it's beauty and terror.

if you crave something kinda like made in abyss then i recommend houseki no kuni. its one of those 'worlds' thats very compelling too. there was an unfortunate anime called sakugan that had a world that was ALMOST as interesting as made in abyss but they pissed it away for goofy episodic comedy. thats probably the one anime i was the most dissapointed with. like the setting was just so interesting. also ben, i dont know if you're a big reader but theres a series of books called the death gate cycle. they are very much like made in abyss. the magic in that was so cool.

the only problem with a movie based on whats written now is theres really no satisfying conclusion point like dawn of the deep soul. its possible that theres more written than has been released though.

Gabu's death scene is easily the most sad part of the entire anime for me, I've seen it so many times and I always tear up

I highly recommend religiously listening to the OST to cope with the absence of Made in Abyss. It'll be years before something new comes out.

There are also official shorts - Marulk's "Marulk's daily life" and Prushka's "Together with papa". You really should watch them, too! :)

Yeah, the next season of Made In Abyss won't be out for a while. Probably a few years at least. The manga releases chapters very slowly, only three or four a year. We probably only have half a season's worth of content ready in the manga.

A sequel to Season 2 has been announced! May either be a movie or another season, we are unsure. That said there is only enough source material currently written for either a movie or 1/3 of a season. So either we have to wait for material to be progressed, or we may get a movie in the "nearer" future. The author is known for taking month or longer gaps to release new chapters.
