Maomao’s best moments for me are when she acts genuinely serious. This episode has one of the best examples of that (so far). The conversation with Jinshi about how she’d prefer to die does also give us a bit of insight into how Maomao truly feels about her place in the world. She doesn’t see herself as having much value and that impacts her personality greatly. It’s hard to form connections with people when you see yourself as so below most of them.
