Try living under that system, he’s just a one star general, if he did any serious pushback he’d have been relived of his post and executed long ago
smth positive_
Anna is very attentive thats all ill say :)

I love the conflicting views of the different characters and how they are portrayed. Thanks Ben. You are the only person I know of that has mentioned how Jerome feels like a realist. He sees things for how they are, and picks his battles - yet he fails to make any change precisely because of this view. Annette to me feels like a Nihilist. She has trauma in her past that was entirely her fault (Refusing to hide Shins family), and completely shuts down because of it. She forces herself to believe that nothing she does will change anything, so why bother? Lena is the Idealist as we all know. She sees things for how they ought to be, and tries to do everything in her power to make that a reality. This causes her to clash with everyone else, and makes it harder for her to stick to her beliefs.

oh shit I forgot this is the episode with Uncle Jerome's final speech... god, he's such an interesting and excellent character. That shot of his worn-down boots gives so much context to his bitter cynicism and total lack of faith in the republic - he undoubtedly felt so disappointed and betrayed by how badly the leaders and chain of command handled the initial Giad offensive. And then off he goes, presumably to do his own little coup, stopping the military command from getting in Lena's way, so that she can have a shot at her dream.

lol I love Shin's choice to take matters into his own hands and say alright heck it sound the alarm or I will blow your brains out first
Holidor
The Uncle is an idiot. I would've said to him during his little monologue: "So you have both failed your nation in every possible way and are now condemning them to die? Would like to step down now or should I execute you on the spot for treason and extreme negligence in the line of duty?"
Jake Thompson
Uncle does nothing but spit facts. He knows the Alba are despicable, that the 86 are marginalized and essentially being genocided. If the 86 did just bail and let the Alba get wiped out, he'd have no problem with it, in fact he thinks it's what SHOULD happen. When he says "if we're lucky, it'll just be a massacre", he's leaving the blank and pillaging part out, which is unfortunately way too common in these types of situations. Despite all that, he still walks his ass to the front lines with a rifle to buy Lena time so that her idealist dream gets one last chance of becoming the new reality instead of the corrupt system he's been stuck in for a decade.

Hope you like jump scares.

Amazing reaction, guys! I’ve been waiting so long for this episode. It’s one of my favorites because we witness Shin’s mental state breaking in front of us, and seeing that from Frederica’s perspective was *chef’s kiss*v Also the line “Follow me if you want to live” is so underrated! I love it so much!

I’ve watched this show dozens of times and every scene still hits the same as the first time also obligatory Lena is the best

Thank you everyone who helped upvote the comment regarding the wrong Crunchyroll dates!

Finding these two so early has to be one of my biggest regrets. I can't wait this long for all my favourite shows they're covering, I'm so excited for a month and a half from now

Slowly but surely we're getting closer to THE episode.
