It is still spam. Especially if the comments have nothing to contribute to the actual video they are on. But yea not a world-ending issue by any means, just something that seems like silly behavior to me.

I don't think the term “spam” is correct. It just means that the comments were concentrated because this video was the latest of all the postings up to yesterday.

If they're this consistently inconsistent, I really wish they'd do what some people have suggested before and record and edit an episode or two ahead, so that even if something comes up they're still able to upload on schedule, at least for the non-airing shows.

Frankly, sometimes I wish that shows like Delicious in Dungeon and the Monogatari series, which are off the air, could be watched all at once instead of one episode a week.
