I started by letting the Ai dream up a bunch of plant monsters until I found one I liked and then added the girl from there. I haven't had much luck with inpainting in Stable Diffusion on the Mac, though the new Photoshop AI tools have been pretty good at that... in certain cases. 8)

I'm not up to training models yet. I used the Dreamshaper model in Stable Diffusion to create a bunch of random plant monsters until I got one I could work with, and then I painted the girl and tentacles over that. I also used a Dreamshaper render to model the lighting for the girl's skin, and I was pretty happy with the result.

Pretty good result - did you use a generated image and then modify it by hand with your drawing, or draw an image and then used AI gen/inpainting to modify your original art?

Looking good! I'm doing the exact same thing, only in my spare time, very slowly, and with a lot of false-starts! I love that you're having such success with it! :D
