Sound Design Tutorial!

Excited to share with you my little process of what I do to get my sounds.
This process mainly covers bass design, but its a great approach to all sounds if applied in the right way. I love how intuitive this is for me and how much pressure it takes off the writing process. It also stops me from overthinking, which I do... a lot. I'm just out here playing with noises, not trying to get anything to specific, and enjoying the crazy sh*t that comes my way in the process, knowing and being excited by the fact that I can use these sounds in my songs somehow.
In another episode I can go in and show you guys how I implement these sounds into a song. You WILL get better at this the more you do it. You will notice and realize what sounds do and don't work, and why. It's all about trial and error and learning from "mistakes".
At the end of the day there are no rules here. Go nuts. It's more fun that way.
I will be doing more of these, but just as a "bass jam session" type video and maybe less tutorial-y.
PS please excuse the slightly poorer quality of the video and the lack of a mouse cursor. I was using a new camera and software and came across some issues along the way. Apologies!

What's the heavy guitar tube rack? Is that something custom you made?

Up to you i guess! The way i do it at the moment just means they are all compiled in one folder once im done (the Consolidate folder) and then all i do is highlight them all and drag them into my desired folder. So its an easy process there. And cmd+J consolidation seems to be fairly straightforward, but there might be an even more efficient way haha

I was wondering when exporting, you took it from the consolidated folder as an AIF file, what I've done in the past is exported as WAV then drop it in the folder. Is one way better than the other?
Love sound design day! Any way we can get a future sound design video about how to make those evolving swirling synths? The first example that comes to mind is in the track freesol by seven lions at about 1:37!

Would love to see how you use your basses and glitches in context of a song your working on. Especially in the more heavy parts that's usually fill like they've got a lot of stuff going on together.
