oH! I didn't know about the wedding ... apparently. Congrats! And the episode was amazing! The Reverse Steve Jobs is amazing, and I think the silly King George is a bit of a Black Adder homage? Or was it just a silly gag?

Congratulations to Jay and Jade! Huzzah! Congratulations again to Mark and his wife for their family addition. The video is great. I was super-excited when I saw the title. I love the story of Harrison. I love the tik-tok joke. Possible the best single one-liner in the history of map men. I laughed out loud. A correction to the improvement notes. H1 doesn't have a single (single-ended) pendulum, but it does have two double-ended counter-moving pendula. I presume H2 is similar. H3 has two counter-rotating pendula. I don't know what the inside of H4 looks like. An additional bit of info. Harrison was so disgusted with the whole thing that he built H5, which was basically the same as H4 but half the size. Unlike the other clocks, H5 appears (or appeared) in the London clockmaker's museum. I would add one item to the notes. There book "Longitude" is great, and I think that's a large part of why most folks nowadays know the Harrison story. There's also a broader story told in the book "The Marine Chronometer". The Harrison clock was brilliant, and was up to the task, but production was a pain. There was lots of parameters that were very hard to dial in, and the temperature compensation was external to the pendulum. For a production chronometer, what had to be invented was a temperature compensation that rode on the pendulum, vastly simplifying the clock (and production). This is all in the Marine Chronometer book. I think the writer of that book discovered the Harrison clocks at Greenwich and is the reason that we know about them today.

Scott, It's not quite fully discredited. It does require a qualifier though as it's a historically disputed claim.

Congratulations on the wedding! One comment: the story about the sailor who was hanged seems to be an old discredited myth (even though it appears in Longitude as fact). Maybe a small hedge to note that, because it's a colorful story all the same.
