The Godzilla franchise has always been a bit of a blind spot for me, and it's one people have been asking me to cover for years. So for this I would just buy the whole Criterion Godzilla box set and go deep, covering the whole history of the series, up through Shin Godzilla and the American versions.
And for Animals Playing Sports, we're talkin' AIR BUD. We're talkin' AIR BUD: GOLDEN RECEIVER. We're talkin' GUS, the movie about the mule that kicks field goals. We are NOT talking about animated movies about anthropomorphic talking animals! Only live-action movies featuring real animals playing sports. And...I will talk about them.

Does circus acrobatics count as a sport? Because 1948's all-bird actor feature extravaganza BILL & COO is one of the craziest things I've ever seen, and more people need to see it. It's even got a scene where all the birds of the town rush to underground shelters as a giant bird threatens the city...so maybe it's Godzilla adjacent?

As someone who is 44/54 through every Godzilla and Godzilla-adjacent film, it’s been a very fun ride. I wholeheartedly encourage Patrick that if Godzilla wins, to also dabble with our friends Mothra and Rodan’s solo films, as well as the bugnuts King Kong Escapes and Frankenstein vs Baragon! (Also subs not dubs!!!)
