Matthew Simpson

Disappointed this one is leaning toward legacy-nostalgia-sequels instead of leet hacking.

Allan Rousselle

This is another bracket where I want both to go all the way. Also, with regard to Hackers, I think I'd include The Net. It was mostly dismissed when it came out, but I recall thinking at the time that it was one of the most realistic movies I'd ever seen that dealt with the topic. I'd also give a tip of the cap to Ferris Bueller's Day Off for one super brief scene, and the fact that Matthew Broderick does some hacking in both this one and WarGames is kinda fun. I'd also note there's one truly terrible scene in the original Jurassic Park that shows hacking very... oddly.

Robert James

Mad Max Fury Road, Top Gun Maverick, Blade Runner 2049, and Hokus Pokus 2 are great movies that happen to be legacy sequels, I'm looking forward to hearing about those

The hacking one is interesting because I'm sure in 20-30 years there's a current societal trend in movies that could get the same treatment.

Kerfliggle

I would vote for hacking solely based on whether Patrick had to watch The Core. DJ Qualls’ character transcends parody and enters hacker caricature. It’s SO dumb.

If it breaks hacking, please please know that prior discussion of the Fast and Furious franchise has not sated my hunger for Tej analysis.

Rossome

As the person who suggested hacking in the movies, I came really close to voting for legacy sequels here. Both sound like such good videos. I am a cybersecurity analyst and was coworkers briefly with one of the consultants who worked on Black Hat so I am really eager to hear about how hacking is portrayed in movies from a cinematic language and story perspective.

Jaime Buelta

I love to hear both, (as a programmer, my vote goes for hacking). I hope that Patrick can find these ideas interesting enough that he wants to do some of them later…

Mark Larssen

I’m here for Blade Runner 2049 pedestal putting.

-Brian-

Maybe there's a legasequel that has some hacking in it, so you can do both

really tough one. almost thinking of sitting this one out. or flipping a coin.

Harrison Webb

Legasequels was my submission but I feel terrible for voting against the greatest film of the 90s, Hackers
