Round 2 continues, and this is where we start getting into territory that will tear friendships and families apart. Our first match-up of the day:

Remember how in the 90s, John Grisham adaptations were as common as superhero movies are today? Seemingly every major director, from Francis Ford Coppola to Sydney Pollack to Alan Pakula to Joel Schumacher to Robert Altman were jumping on the chance to adapt one of these novels about crusading lawyers in tough situations. They're a kind of movie that doesn't really exist anymore, big-budget dramas starring major movie stars arguing in courtrooms. And they were good!
And then we have muppets. We all love muppets. This is theoretically a huge topic, since there is so much muppet media, especially on TV. But this would be sticking solely to the movies, covering the main Muppet franchise, as well as muppet characters throughout other movies (such as The Dark Crystal, and even Yoda). If you want a deep critical analysis of adorable felt characters, you know what to do.

Honestly, I had no idea that Legal Dramas were having a moment at the time. Same thing with RomComs. I thought those were just what mid-budget movies were.
I would be ok if most of these get made in the future I WANT TO SEE THEM ALL

Noooooooo! 90s legal dramas are my favourite topic of this whole tttottt! Others might have explored the film industry side of it, I think pat might focus on exploring the movies themselves and it'll be glorious!

I think the underlying cause has been explained many places before - risk averse studios stopped making big budget anything that wasn't attached to a four quadrant IP. If you can't make a legal drama on an indie budget or find a hook that can sustain it as a mid-budget TV series, there's no home for it anymore. It's the same story for a few genres that aren't either nostalgia or comic adjacent.

90s legal dramas were big budget serious dramas for adults - a concept that doesn't exist anymore and I want to hear Patrick explain why. And why they should make a comeback. I like Muppets too, but this is a more important topic. I rest my case ;)
I am really torn on this one, I'd love to see both of them. I really hope a key Disney executive sees this poll and decides to adapt a John Grisham novel with the Muppets now.
I’ll just be the old codger demanding ‘90s legal dramas…
