Aging Wheels

😬

I know you were being as safe as possible, but I lost a nephew to this exact project. No one knows for sure what happened he was alone in a garage when it happened. But the risk/danger of messing around the internals of an old microwave are no joke. Fortunately his wife found him rather than his daughter.

Protip with those red 7-segment displays, put a piece of red tape (I use 3M electrical tape) over the display to make it more legible.

FYI, using welding cable will greatly help with the flexability. You'll also want to crimp the ends of the welding cable instead of just using a grub screw, welding cable's conductors are very fine and will easily crush/break, so either a ferrule over the ends, or use a different termination style like crimped ring connectors etc...

Will we have an over complicated go-kart wheel?? eheh

Josh Dionne

Neat! I'm sure you'll work on the fit and finish at some point as well off-camera! I wonder if you can make a few smaller packs and connect them up for weight distribution? Not sure if that would be easier or harder to accommodate on a go kart, though

Aging Wheels

I spent all my time on the box. The tips were almost an afterthought. Yes! But the fanciness of the battery box will be greatly limited by its location. It'll be next to the wheel on a go kart

I'm kinda surprised you didn't file those little copper nubbins to be a bit pointier and/or level. Good job, though, I love it! Will there be a video on the building of this battery pack and the unnecessarily fancy case for it as well??

Kirk Struik

This is amazing. Good job!

The electrons in the primary coil do a happy back-and-forth dance when power is applied. The electrons in the secondary coil get very excited about this and join in. Because their coil is much thicker, they move in-and-out less but there's a lot more of them. Magnets are also important in this process, for Important Reasons.

I'm always suspicious when my code works the first time. I'd be extra suspicious if the code were being used with 600 amps O_o

Have you looked at welding wire for more flexible leads?

alphawhiskey

Absolutely agree with transformers being boxes with a tiny wizard inside. I don’t really understand electricity in any kind of intuitive way.

Aging Wheels

I'm too scared to do that

I like how you are watching all the same youtube channels as me. Thumbs up for the Electroboom shout out, I was wondering if you were going to accidently shock yourself like he's always doing.

Aging Wheels

A smidge less readable, but greatly condensed

kargaroc

https://pastebin.com/YDA17LU9 I made your code better

WORDS are spoken! Things are DONE! All of this is way above my paygrade but I watched it with interest anyway.
