Our main car needs work. Rather than fix it, why not go out and get another car that needs work? Makes perfect sense I think

Yes! I need to post an update for my patrons. I was sick (flu, not Rona) for two weeks out of January, so I'm way behind now. I'm making good progress on the bus, so I expect the next phase and video to be ready in about two weeks

The serpentine belts on those M113 V8s are a killer - make sure the tensioner itself is in good shape, as otherwise the belt will throw again (speaking from experience delivering pizzas a few years ago in an 02 s500 with the same motor)

Did you check that it was not just a broken clutch retainer at the pedal end of Volvo? Volvos do sometimes break those. Could be something like this: https://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts/accessories/din-assembly-parts/fasteners/clip-clutch-pedal/1055102/ ...or it could really be the clutch. I'd check this before ordering though. I myself have a spare clutch cable now because I didn't check mine before ordering. :)

Has this car been damaged in the front left? The thumbnail makes it look like the front door and fender are a different colour, possibly repainted at some point. Not important but it'd add to the history of it

Also, sometimes a car is just something special and you'll put up with just about anything to keep it. My 1999 Range Rover Sport is forever giving me grief, but I love it so I fix it and wait for the next problem. Somehow though it's never left me stranded. It has the decency to always wait until I'm home before deciding not to start the next time I go to take it out.

Aged Mercedes are only slightly better than aged Jaguars and Land Rovers... though all make lovely lawn ornaments.
