Steffen at My Wood Cutters sent me this cutter head nearly three months ago and I just now found time to make the videos with it. Time flies when you're having fun! You can expect an Under Dunn project next week and then it's back to Aging Wheels for a little while.

You can also emulate the functionality of a jointer by using a sled with shims and a thickness planer. Great video covering that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWOB-WIDkOs
Aging Wheels
Other countries call a jointer a planer and a planer a thicknesser. I don't actually know why we call it a jointer. You can cut a rabbet on it, but that's it
Aging Wheels
That's a very common question. Simply put, a jointer flattens and a planer thicknesses. I found this video that explains the difference perfectly: https://youtu.be/9x8p5JZ8qHQ
That feel when your casters have negative caster.

Why is it called a jointer and not a table planer? You don't actually make joints with it, do you?
Buzzin
I know very little about woodwork, so forgive my ignorance. But doesn't this jointer do the exact same thing as the plainer....but just on the bottom instead of the top? Why would you need two separate machines for that?
Aging Wheels
I do control that. Looks like I rushed on that screen a little. You all are my supporters and beta testers today!
By the way, not sure if you control it but the 'end card' (the video and channel icon) at the end appeared a little too soon, obscuring some of your calculations :)
I’ve never even heard of a “link belt” before. Looks interesting. Maybe an idea for a quick Under Dunn video?
Aging Wheels
These go out tomorrow. The Yugo video will go out whenever Tavarish releases his video. Should be in a week or two

Out of curiosity how long till the videos go up on YouTube I’m surprised the yugo one isn’t up yet

Fair point I did have a fairly new kobalt drill snap at a 8” fall. Thankful it was new enough to trade it for a replacement and it was on sale so I even got a bit back.
Aging Wheels
Indeed, but I'm willing to throw away a $50 drill if it's no good. Not the case with a $600 jointer.
Aging Wheels
Oof. Fixed for real this time
Evan Hartmann
So you said you initially didn’t want it because it was a cheaper brand. But isn’t Ryobi a cheaper brand?
The link itself is actually still the same, the text is just different right now
Aging Wheels
Nope! I'm dumb. Fixed :)
Are they supposed to be the same Link?
