Traveling by rail in Europe is pretty easy (Google Maps makes it really simple). There's a whole group of us doing Cassino and Pompeii so we will navigate it all together.

Ok. Sounds good. I’ve booked hotels for the two night in Cassino and the Hotel Zeus respectively. I’ll wait on the Telegram chat to book the train tickets, since I’ve never traveled by rail in Italy and don’t speak Italian.

Once the trip is finalized this week, everyone should receive an invitation to the group chat on Telegram. It will make it easier to communicate about this stuff. I'm working on setting up a guided tour of the Monte Cassino battlefield for the 15th so I'll probably try to get an exact count of who is interested in the next few weeks.

I can tell you what my plans are, and you can plan accordingly. I'm planning an early morning train to Cassino on April 15th, and staying at the Hotel Piazza Marconi in Cassino that night. The next morning, another early train to Pompeii where my hotel is at the Hotel Zeus. I know that several others (folks I know from the previous group trip to Germany/Austria) are staying in the same places. I'll be taking a train back to Rome the morning of the 17th and catching my flight to New York that afternoon.

I’ll add to Randall Jones’ question. What accommodations should we look for if we want to stay for the Cassini and Pompeii visits. And what flight home should we be looking into? I’ll need to modify my return flight, but I’d really love to do the extra days!

Chris, I've got the same Cassino Hotel already booked. I'm planning on doing a 6:40pm train from Naples back to Rome and stay in Rome the night of the 16th. My flight back to the states is at 11:00am on the 17th and everything I've read says be there 3-4 hours ahead. Can't wait to see y'all there

Also, I'm booked at the Hotel Piazza Marconi in Cassino for the night of April 15-16 and the Hotel Zeus in Pompeii for the night of April 16-17 though you can certainly book whatever you want if you're planning to go there.

Hi John, the Palatino hotel is less than a mile from Termini Station. BTW, I’m coming by a train on 10th as well.

Got it, Thanks. I won't be in Rome till the scheduled start day on April 10th. But to have a general idea on destination after I get to Termini is very helpful.

When will we have more information on hotels and such? I'm landing in country a few days ahead and will be taking the train from Venice to Rome for the start of the official trip and just want to know where I'm going. Also, do you have any hotel/travel info for the Cassino/Pompeii portion?

April 17. That’s the day I’m flying home. We are going to Cassino on the 15th and Pompeii on the 16th.

What day would the return flight be if I stayed for the Cassino and Pompeii visit? I'm having a hard time figuring out when I will return so that I can get my return day to work correct.
