At this point they are quite free to choose where they want to work and what they want to do: they can be warriors, teachers, cooks, masons, dragon carers, anything! They fulfill all the jobs necessary to keep the Order going!
Also since this rank is usually the highest achieved by most Riders and because of the steady nature of the work, it's not uncommon for Veterans to marry and form a family! Riders who marry other Riders can raise their children in the Keep, and those will become helpers or with any luck a Dragon Rider themselves. Veterans who marry outside of the Order leave the keep to raise their families in their villages or outposts. They are vital in the strength of the bond between the Order and the rest of the Realm.

The Dragon tends to share the love their Rider has for their partner since they can feel how intense their emotions are, however it's true that privacy and intimacy can be somewhat ruined when there is a constant telepathic bond in the mix of a relationship haha.
They completed their Novice training in about the same time (they enjoyed their time alone hahaha) but after reaching Veteran rank they easily overachieved in about a year or so

As to the additional text below the page, how do most marriages between Rider and Non-Rider handle the presence of a fully sentient dragon in the relationship? Are jealousy or feelings of third-wheel common or rare in such instances?

Now I'm curious exactly how much less time it took the Third Commandment pair to rise to and beyond Veteran, compared to an equivalent non-lover pair.
