I was sheltered from everything. So now with my son ( 6) im teaching him what ratings are and letting him choose if he wants to watch things. Weve watched jaws and ghostbusters( afterlife) and he asks questions and we talk about it and he doesnt get scared. He LOVES movies now. So i think more people should just take time with their kids and explain things in a few sentences so you keep their attention. And they feel like they have power and worth on their opnions and ideas. Total segue,. Sorry not sorry.

I was a weenie. But I remember, probably 4th grade I believe. And my dad wanted to watch Starship Troopers. And he was like like "You'll be alright, right?" so my mom gets off work and we'd watched The Mummy and Starship Troopers. I was in the middle of the night swearing bugs were going to attack me, Lmao. My poor father.

So my mom didn't let us watch grotesque or violent or just anything. She didn't want us watching Jurrasic park. Weirdly, my dad didn't read a bunch but he read LOTR. He missed seeing the fellowship in theaters and really wanted to go see Towers. Him and my mom went and she came back saying we couldn't see it because an orc got its head cut off and ate. That was I believe 7th grade.

Best time travel movie? About Time with Domhnall Gleeson aka General Hux in Starwars, Rachel McAdams, Bill Nighy, 2013. It's oughts nostalgic, doesn't get into any of the weeds with the science of time travel, explores the wish fulfillment of wanting to have conversations over again/another chance without getting being too problematic or creepy, cute dulled comedic wonderfully english moments, and it makes you think on what it means to be a child, a parent and to appreciate living day to day. Also kind of a rom-com with a lot of substance. Highly recommend.
