I think it might change stuff because harry will then have never had to go with hagrid to gringotts and harry will have never found out about the sorcerers stone in the bank so sorcerers stone will be different

What you have to really address is the jealousy. All that happens at the Dursley's happens because of Petunia's jealousy. What would help her move past that? And obviously it would be great if she was a better person than she was, but she won't be. You would have to give her something just as special, so she feels "compensated".
