I agree with much of what ppl are saying. I would also add Lucien to this list, can he keep his mouth shut about what he knows about Alana and consult her before opening his mouth and spilling his beans. You want alcohol for cocktails, seek her out and ask instead of putting her in a position where she has to help. They still see her as a little girl who set fire to the woods. They way how her mother is pushing her, her father is restricting her and Mystien is robbing her to protect her is ridiculous. In the end she will not be content to be a submissive woman controlled by family or friends. Lord Of Shadows make me think he is from earth or somewhere else. Somehow Alana will end up with the Dean and Prince, and I think she will end up married to him.

Deepal

Given she is a Bard, one would expect her to explore the world. Just staying in the capital would be boring story wise. There is an entire world of other intelligent life and monsters waiting.

Michael Maor

That's a minor issue. The way she made aluminum was by using a spell to separate everything in a sample to individual elements. It would work just as well on various ores producing all sorts of interesting metals, or a barrel of salt which will produce enough chlorine gas to kill everyone in the city.

I think it maybe a combination of Mystien's natural curiosity, and him still trying to figure out how to treat Alana, now that she's not like 8.

Michael Maor

Static electricity can produce that temperature, as can wood or wax fire. i.e it's quite possible to ignite exposed aluminum in a medieval setting accidentally or on purpose, and putting it out is going to be functionally impossible until it runs out of aluminum to burn (they might be able to smother the fire out with sand to keep it from spreading, but I doubt they have the sand to do so at hand). Spraying water on an aluminum fire is a great way to make things a LOT worse

Reminder

Might be, but I hope that they will change instead the way they treat her ... During the academy arc I had a lot of hope that the reunion will finally give her a real education where she doesn't have to hide things so much and will learn things, that aren't taught on a normal academy, but so far I see the quite opposite of that

Robert Mullins

It seems like we are building up to an arc where Alana runs away from home. Possibly to the elf Nation. And possibly with her party (warrior, mage, priestess, and bard)

Deepal

This workshop will be vey interesting. She could try to make titanium. I wonder if she will make some awesome armour. Kevlar type, knife resistant/ proof dress. That would come in handy if someone got in close to her, like an assassin. Her close quarter combat abilities are non existent and this could buy her time.

Choboman

Ignition temp of aluminum is 1220 degrees F or 660 degrees C. It's not going to catch accidentally.

Reminder

It really bugs me wrong the way Mystien handles Alana so far ... the first thing he did after they reunited was to interrogate Alana about everything she learned and claim these ground-breaking things for himself ... "Oh, you know how to create the legendary sky-metal ? Show me" "Oh, you know about pi, that apparently is very important for magic cores ? Tell me more" etc ... It would all be fine as well, if Mystien simply gave something back. I mean, so far he has only taken and not given a single thing back, not new knowledge, no magic items or ANYTHING ... we are talking about groundbreaking things here and that seems really ungrateful to me, idk how others feel about it

Jim Kelly

So far Alana has been fairly restrained in the information that she has shared. Molecular construction of water, ice cream, beekeeping, core logic, aluminum, flamethrower and walkie talkies. Compared to the vast amount of information that she is keeping to herself, that isn’t very much.

Rowsdower

I hadn't realized she told Mystien how to refine the Aluminum. Are they making all the other metals as well? Water Mage + Sodium is a very dangerous combo.

Morog T Tiny

Yes the law of unintended consequences... You could use the magic and info she has transferred to create truly monstrous weapons. She was really foolish to just give info over.

Michael Maor

Very nice chapter, but I'm really hoping the "stop Aluminum from developing a Patina will be shown as the insane stupidity it is. Aluminum is VERY flammable, the only reason it can be used safely is because aluminum oxide is quite hard so Aluminum alloys develop a layer of Aluminum oxide near instantly that prevents the aluminum from catching fire. having exposed aluminum that won't develop a Patina seems like a great assassination tool.
