[Early Access] I Accidentally DEBIAN on a Power Mac G5
🕑 Added 2022-01-22 05:12:29 +0000 UTCToday we're going to try and install Debian 11 Sid on a PowerMac G5, which is known to have a broken bootloader and *almost* installing from the netinstall CD. The catch is - I've already successfully installed it once, but I don't remember exactly how I did it. So today, let's try to reproduce the install for posterity, and then explore bleeding-edge Debian Linux on a 20 year old Power Mac!

Nice video, seems weird to me that the video performance was this bad though. Maybe reinstalling the driver could've solved it

Very cool stuff! Makes me want to try out some PPC Linuxes - haven't tried any yet, although as far as non-Apple OSes go, I did recently install MorphOS on my G4 Mini and have been enjoying that, despite the fact that it's been a bit of a learning curve. Quick note, tho - you've got a repeated line between 24:37-24:52. Looks like two takes of the same bit. Figured I ought to let you know in case you want to re-edit.
