The best retro gaming experiences involve ship of Theseusing the hardware then bending a vastly too modern OS to your will and then feeling satisfied with a job well done. And completely forgetting the gaming.

Funnily enough I was poking around one of these that we've had sat unused in the office for years (well, a 21.5" 11,2) with a view to upgrading the CPU and GPU and sticking Linux on it, but the screen has gone a very weird shade of yellow. Apparently it's quite common with that specific model, unfortunately - and not repairable without swapping out the whole panel for a non-yellowed one.

I tried it on a iMac 2009, but it didn't work. Happily the latest Linux Mint (Cinnamon) Wilma works. I used the old hardware.

Could you recompile that ppa driver for the later kernal?

First thing on the list after a fresh OS install is to setup fastfetch and look at the pretty colors!

Funny you mention this—I just installed Ubuntu on a 2011 MacBook Air, and it's slow, but fun!
