Oh, there’s a little misunderstanding here. Demian didn’t bully Izumi as a norm (if he did, there’s no way they could have become close friends after just an apology from him), he did just that one thing that Izumi remembers in the comic. Izumi developed social anxiety because he was bullied as a norm by other kids (not the type who pranks you once, but the type who bullies you all the way through the school year). Demian was put into the same bag as the others for being clumsy once rather than for having true bad intentions. When Demian leaves he thinks he failed Izumi (because it was Izumi who said they were distracting each other and he couldn’t prove him wrong), and even though he does try to contact him, all he sees is that Izumi kept him blocked, so they both thought the other was angry over a misunderstanding.

I'm curious to see how this ends because as it stands Demian is a really awful person. He severely bullied Izumi so much he developed a mental illness, then once he forced himself into Izumi's life and had him twisted around his finger he ran away for a year knowing full well it would hurt Izumi.
