On the one hand, I think it's awful to try to force people into abandoning their dreams for their own safety because, among other things, you never know if it would go well for them or not. On the other hand, I understand wanting someone you love to be safe. I guess the middle point is best: explain all your knowledge and fears, but don't be mad or suffer if the other person makes their own choices. In the end it's their own life, so it's up to them to choose what to do with it.

It’s so hard; I always want to do whatever I can to ‘fix’ things for people I care about! But ultimately, all you can do is offer your advice only if they ask, and just be there to support them until it becomes detrimental to you to do so, then things have to change.
