i’ve been listening to this one a lot, so you know. it’s very emotional. on both versions, the lyrics do a pretty raw job of reflecting a certain long-held sadness back to me about similar patterns in MY life. similar effect to “don’t smoke” by the microphones. the piano arps in this version remind me of my childhood favorite song, “the stars are projectors” by modest mouse. you don’t know me, but if you did, you would know that’s really high praise. i love this thing, it’s funny and expressive and the main melody is sick. if you ever carried through on your plan to release an album like you mentioned wanting to do in the march month in review, i’d be really happy to hear it.

This sounds better.

I like the sound of this one more, but the vocals are not clear enough here. On another note, the other one has a more cursed/i-am-suffering vibe, but it feels more appropriate to have that kind of vibe. Like yes, this one is more pleasant to listen to, but it is not cursed enough to be *it*.

I feel like the vibe of this one gives more of a 'dissociated' feel which matches the message
