Is this done to "get more strength" out of the dyneema/technora?

That what we often do when rigging for stunts in the TV and movie industry. 6 or so wraps on the biner, tie it of with a Slipknot and secure the loop of the Slipknot back into biner making sure the load strand is on the spine side of the biner. Like a tension less hitch. Use of this depends on situations of course but for low height slow moving body weight flying it’s perfect. If we get bigger forces and winches involved we start splicing.

I think a frictionless hitch around a connector like a carabiner might cinch up around the carabiner pretty dang tight like a barrel knot does, making it difficult to remove. Not a problem in my machine as it would break and I cut it off but in practical use in the wild. I'll play with it and see what happens.

The break takes place in the tight rope radius within the knot under load. Could you run the rope around the metal of a carabiner several times and then tie the free end back around the load bearing entry rope? The intention would be to provide a larger bend radius under load and have the knot isolated from the load force by the friction of the wrap around the carabiner leg.
