🕑 Added 2024-12-04 10:00:04 +0000 UTCIt hurts Lars not to be able to give Ethan a different answer because he knows that's the end of their friendship, but he will not lie to him. He's hated Ragnar ever since he had sex with Axel and he's going to hate him until he dies for that reason even though he is ready to move on thanks to the fact Ragnar spared Axel's life. Still, Lars understands now that there's no possibility of removing Ragnar and Yule from the equation in his friendship with Ethan and Skye, so it's a dead end for them.
In the end he will always choose Axel. Axel who has a horrible personality, but that's the person he fell in love with and the person he'd die and kill for. He's a grown up man with really poor life choices, but it's his conscious choices nonetheless.
This is the last time you'll see these two in the comic. I have a headcanon for what happens with them next, so maybe I'll write a short story (novel style) for those of you who are interested in knowing.
On a happier note, Ragnar loves carrying Yule princess-style (laughs). It's because he feels calm when he's holding Yule like that because it puts him in a position where he's easy to protect. It's unconscious, but that's the reason.

It’s ok Ethan. Not all friendships are meant to be. Maybe if Lars had known you in a different life, without Axel to bring out the worst in him, things would be different. Or if he and Axel did not feel the need to bring others down with them in a perpetual negative vortex. Or if what happened between Axel, Lars, and Ragnar never happened in the first place. Or even if it did, but there was no animosity. My point is, things could have gone so many different ways; but they didn’t. Lars is living with his actions. And you now need to move forward. What’s done is done, and everything will be ok. You have people who love you, who will never hurt you, or Skye, or anyone. That’s all that matters. And besides, you’ll make other friends in your lifetime who will bring you joy and peace the way Lars did in that very short timespan, but permanently.
