Reading your comment I'm SO glad people are fighting against the stigma of mental conditions nowadays, because it's true older generations don't have it easy to face such things when all they learnt was so negative. In the end if your stomach hurts you go to the stomach doctor, so why not do the same for anything related to the brain? I'm glad you and your siblings are able to face this issue in a completely different light.

HAHA, yyyyeeeeeah, I wish that was more common ;;; It's more normal for parents from the current generation, but kinda unthinkable for older parents as is the case of Izumi and Kei's.

A parent in therapy!! What's that like?? 😭

oof, the parent with an undiagnosed disorder is something that hits close to home. i suspect that my mom is autisticβ€”amongst other things, she has these MASSIVE blow-ups when she's upset or overstimulated. my maternal grandfather was the same way. but she won't consider the possibility because of the stigma associated with mental conditions in her generation. me and both of my siblings are diagnosed with adhd/autism/both, and we're getting help so we can hopefully break the cycle. i love the way you're tackling this issue, and i'm glad you're including the nuances that make it so difficult.
