Damn, there are really some amazing pages in Chapter 16!??
There are so many panels I love haha. The contrast is strong, and I really like the pacing and what it tells. I hope these new pages live up to that. Usually I need a few days or even weeks of distance to really know, haha.
There’s a double-page spread that bridges the present and the Boy’s memories. It’s been a while since we had one like that, even if you don’t really feel it in digital format, haha.
I absolutely love the two panels of the boy being pulled out of the flames by the firefighters, dunno why.
I was so worried about the pacing and storytelling of these pages, you have no idea!! Please don’t read them on the subway, HAHA I wanted everything to feel slow, heavy, threatening, dramatic.
Sorry, but I’m just really happy: we finally understand where that beam of light comes from, the one that cuts across the boy’s eye whenever he slips out of reality and into his memories.
It’s his POV, his entire memory is playing out there.
And it’s important to note that we only ever see the monster through the Boy’s eyes in those shots. That matters, because even he knows that monsters don’t really exist, and that this is his own interpretation of what happened. The monster only has this form inside his mind.
In the same way, for those who didn’t catch it, the butterflies are actually the ashes from the fire, shown in a more poetic way. It’s the brain reshaping reality. The boy never directly talks about the butterflies in the comic, almost as if he knows they’re imagined, without fully remembering that they were ashes.
You can imagine that, in the terror of the moment, the image of the monster opening the door and all the ashes and embers rushing into the room burned itself into his mind. Later, alone in his bed, the scene replayed over and over, with his child’s brain reshaping reality.
And you know what I also love? The fact that you think you’re starting to understand everything with the first flashback, but then the second one hits, with the monster reappearing, floating above the bed, and everything falls apart again, haha.

They're are the sweetest i can't help but feel all woozy and warm whenever they interact with one another we all need some tenderness in our lives and I'll be damned i think Tera needs it and the boy needs the focused protective love he's getting due to his trauma and fear. I love how they compliment/contrast and fill each other's needs without it being forceful your writing is fantastic.

Damn, thank you Rima! Not sure I’m going to check, it’ll just demotivate me, and there’s not much I can really do about those accounts, especially on TikTok and even less on Telegram. What really helps is mass reporting, that’s basically the only thing that can have an impact. That’s sad and it sucks. Maybe I’ll mention this on Instagram.

That person impersonating you on tiktok has now started to take art that you post on patreon, run them through AI and then post them on tiktok. And now they also have a telegram page(? Idk how that's called, I haven't gotten in there YET) and I'm not sure what they're doing there. I keep commenting to let others know that they're not the real Z-Pico but so far, they haven't stopped posting as you. They also post Patreon content on there. Both art and some pages. I tried reporting their acc but it didn't do much. So if anyone sees this comment, please go report "zpico2" on tiktok 🥲

Aa, I really love so many panels from the chapter 16! They are just so pretty 😍 not that the entire comic isn't full of pretty panels, this one just *chef kisses*. I love it how things start to make more sense and how little things are woven together. Some things have been clear to me, some I've missed and noticed after reading the chapters again, and then there are the things that get clearer with new updates :3 thank you for the update! Dude, I have hundreds of fanfics about them in my head (a lot of smut that I think Pico doesn't like). One of my favorites is the boy who eventually joins the BD with the aim of killing Luc, and he, who is a bit psycho, gladly accepts. He fights using a bow and daggers, and wears a black cat mask. In the end, he wounds Luc (almost killing him), and that's why he decides to make him the leader. And when someone wounds Tera, the boy goes completely berserk and kills people badly. (I love the "dark boy")

This storytelling is breathtaking and heartbreaking when I read the first line cuz it hit me when I recalled the last page last month! And I love every details you braided through the scene, like the dimming of Tera's eyes, the switch of scenes of past and present using Boy‘s stares. Boy was trapped into his night terror since then and locked himself in those memories. I hope Tera could found the key to his nightmare and save his heart from the fate of Opelia :)
