I disagree that they are more in their element. They are doing very little to utilize the system and just relying on Will to keep them on the trail. Without his extensive hand-holding, they would have been stuck a long time ago. This is not the system or genre for them as a group.

I will say, this is, from what I remember, quite the change of pace from previous seasons, where the story mostly follows Will and the characters build on each other while mostly accepting the direction of the pathways set out for them. It's cool, and I look forward to more of it, but a guilty pleasure of mine hides away, hoping for the gang to absolutely fuck Will's story up or to abuse one of his mechanics in a very tactically advantageous manner, one that would make Will really have to make something up for the group or make him sit back and see what happens among them, sprinkling in his own touch of chaos to the mix. The trex vs robot scene is a good example of that!

I've been really enjoying this season so far, but I feel for some of the players there is more of a focus on subverting expectation and interrupting other peoples scenes then actually getting immersed in the story. I know that's what dungeons and daddies is, but sometimes it'd be nice to explore the story like at the start of the season.
