Ok but specifically FFVII absolutely uses it's mechanics to convey story and build tension. Not as much as other games, granted, but it definitely does!! (See: Flashbacks with sephiroth where he does a billion damage to a powerful monster and you immediately die. Shows way more efficiently just how powerful sephiroth is than a cutscenes does.)

From what I've heard on other podcasts, usually "group perception checks" are left to the most perceptive character, and the other players can do something to try to give them advantage. So like, in season 1, Henry would've done the perception checks (bc he had the highest perception modifier)

I will say- I fucking love Dad Facts, I think it's such a good way to set the tone and lay in some backstory or exposition that can't come up naturally or is too funny for the moment I've adopted them into my campaigns and I swear that it gets everyone more comfortable interacting with everyone else Not to mention the amount of hilarity that happens anytime a dad fact becomes a joke in the session

I thought about this, and here’s the problem I see: Murph is also too famous and booked. He doesn’t just run games, he also does their editing, and they tour, and he records and tours with Dimension 20 as well. Emily and Caldwell are great DM’s, but the Daddies crew’s humor is too crass for them. Like, the dads all bully each other and each others’ identity groups, because they all know they’re joking and we all know they aren’t shitty people. Just think about how Beth is often the centerpiece OR the author of making fun of women jokes, or how savage Anthony will be to any of them (and vice versa) because he’s got that impenetrable performer skin (though we know he has real feelings too). Will flips between being dramatically wounded and saying things sometimes that verge so close to a real opinion about another player that my jaw has dropped. Matt often takes on the role of an ignorant or bigoted person for a bit and his selling of it both makes it hilarious and also shocking. So, while I would love to see this, I think Murph would probably be the only one who could hang at their level, and that would still involve him swallowing some critiques on things. Jake is too much a sweetheart and baby dm to even be considered. That man loves pg13 word play and being occasionally mischievous. In my fanfic where it did happen, though, it’s Emily who runs it. She’s fucking wild, and I bet if she wanted to she could swing just as hard as the dads do. I also think she’s really growing some amazing dm chops and want to see her do more of it.

Point of order Mr. Burch borderlands doesn't tell the story though the cut scenes the only time that there are cut scenes are in the beginning of the game of start of dlc which doesn't take away from the story which can be told though the main or side quests as well as echo logs throughout the map that add to the overall story don't sully the great name of borderlands 2 and tps
