The young Micheal and older Michael are near identical. Gotta be the best casting of a same character I've seen
Durham in a nutshell.. I used to go to play football against Darlingtoin 2009 when they were still in the football league and it was such a dark miserable place.. Even the kids I played against seemed sad all the time. But they were good people. 💯💯

Really enjoyed this. My family come from a similar background to Billy, and had family in the real-life village where he lived. A couple of interesting things you picked up on - like when the older brother is running from the police - is that everyone really did leave their doors open. It was such a common thing. Even I do that now. And everyone looks out for everyone. Also the chopping of the piano. Times were really, really tough. My own great grandparents chopped up internal doors in their house to use as firewood. Sad truths about the way people lived. The village this was filmed in is still there today and is just as rundown, probably worse. Industry is gone and there's absolutely nothing going for it, it's where dreams go to die.
