I hadn't realised how ropey some of these early episodes are. I remember watching this show as a kid, on TV, and I suppose they mostly played the later series. It does get better.

We seem to be getting to the episodes that I remember from the show. Haven't seen them since the '90s! Some bits are funnier than I remember. (Had forgotten how grating that jazzy theme music was!)

I've loved this show since I was a kid but this is the first time watching it back in about 10 years, and I've never realised how low key hilarious Dorothy is. Her and Gary's relationship of "just putting up with each other" is really unique I think

That "Pretty Privelege" video you mentioned at the end sounds about right. There's a line in a book by George Orwell about his experience becoming homeless for several years and he says "An attractive woman would never end up homeless. Because all she would have to do is attach herself to a man and problem solved", or something similar. (From 'Down & Out In Paris & London'.) It was about 15 years ago I read it but that always stuck with me,

It never fails to crack me up how Dorothy nonchalantly, and without even looking, chucks her drink over Gary when he says, "I wouldn't chase after Debra if I had a gorgeous girlfriend."
