I don't agree. I think she's remarkably tolerant and patient. And Gary's a guy who would have slept with almost any woman he saw if they'd agreed. Spent most of the show's run openly trying to shag Dorothy's best friend.

If you watch the whole sreies Dorothy is just as vile,nasty,controlling as Gary is let's not forget she slept with tony and Jamie whilst seeing Gary

Tony really leans into the 'last puppy in the pound' aspect of his character when Gary's talking about him moving out. Reminds me a bit of Dougal when Ted is considering moving to America: 'you wouldn't leave us behind would you Ted?' Watching this again I'm surprised at what an absolute, unmitigated shit Gary is. Even back then it was quite ballsy to make him such an utterly unapologetic prick, in the way he treats Dorothy, in his pettiness, nastiness, dopey sexism, etc. Testament to Clunes's acting ability that you don't come away despising him, more pitying him. And Dorothy really. Calling Dr Freud, please help me figure out what went wrong in her childhood to make her stick with this man lol

"Playing away" was the last episode of season 4! BTW anyone else notice that this version of Hair has replaced the music i montage? Pretty sure the original had Frank Sinatra's "Young at heart" in it instead of that acoustic guitar instrumental.
