I guess it's left open to interpretation a bit. I'd always viewed it as JP got to say goodbye to his dad through the horse. It was the middle of the night at Oregon's but fully daylight by the time they got to JPs mum's suggesting there was quite a bit of distance between the two houses. If that was the case they probably wouldn't have made it back to see his dad alive anyway, so neither Oregon or JP would have got to say their goodbyes if they hadn't detoured.

This episode really gets me, my dad died suddenly when I was a teenager and that bit where JP is talking to the horse is very silly but man, oof. What excellent writing. Fantastic reaction mate, glad you’re doing this show!

Yeah his dad died while they were seeing the horse, they missed it because of Oregan. Really like this episode, such an emotional one

I think we're supposed to think that JP's dad is still alive whilst they're travelling, and it's the look his mum gives him when they arrive that indicates he has passed away,

I noticed you kept calling Howard 'Greg' lol. For the first few episodes I kept thinking his name was Keith for some reason 😁 Good episode. I liked Josie in the beginning but have gone right off her now and disliked JP in the beginning but am starting to really like him a lot now. The scene with the horse had me tearing up which I wasn't expecting with this show. I love Vod and Howard, they're great characters. Thanks Josh.

The first episode where you start to truly fall in love with the show. Really funny and also very emotional and heartfelt, the scene with JP and Oregon's horse is definitely a highlight of the show that puts a lump in your throat.
