The IRA from 1969 onwards were an armed terrorist group of Irish Nationlists who waged a bloody war of attrition against the British state from 1969-1997. Thousands of people (on both sides) lost their lives, mainly innocent Irish and British bystanders. That medley of songs is so funny in that context of a British chat shows. So inappropriate, like ISIS or Al Qaeda doing something similar on American TV nowadays. One of the funniest moments of AP ever imo

Maybe, maybe not. But the quick rapid exchange certainly implied she was perfectly aware there was no delay in the first place. Otherwise she'd have paused at least from the beginning to be sure she'd finished. This looked like a well timed conspiracy to make Alan look inexperienced. That's how I read it in the moment anyways.

I don’t know that Jennie was necessarily in on it but certainly had an idea what was going on at the end and passed it off as ‘technical difficulties’

Not sure if you were confused whether it was Steve playing the Alan lookalike or if if was Alan doing a bit It was Steve Coogan playing him but it wasn't Alan as part of the show

The punchline of the signal delay gag was so hilariously unexpected for me. That she had to be faking it just to make him look stupid, and Jennie obviously had to be in on it. The timing of that was brilliantly left field after the build up of that tedious cringe part, leading you to think that was maybe all there was to the 'bit'.

The IRA was the Irish Republican Army in the Irish War of Independence / Civil War and then various splinter groups that were known for planting bombs in Ireland and the UK up until the 1990s… maybe Derry Girls should be on the poll list
