BR90s

It is good but with ghosts it opens up the storyline and allows all the characters to grow

BR90s

Loved that! Such a good show.

John

Good thing you aren't the boss LOL

John

Thank god ghosts won

John

Do you guys remember grizzly tales for gruesome kids?

Jasmine Carpenter

Horrible Histories was funnier imo

John

He is these days. However he did uses to actually be funny

John

Ideal is such a fun show and it's so weird and different than anything else. Plus who doesn't love Sean lock with tits 🤣

John

Outnumbered. Really?

John

Ive said that for ages but I get called a nutter

John

Who the hell is voting for outnumbered? It's so shit.. why is it even on this poll?

Jasmine Carpenter

This is just BS. Some obvious rigging going on. Why would the votes fluctuate so much since the last poll?

Jasmine Carpenter

How did Bad Education go from 76 Votes and No 1 spot to 38 Votes? Something odd going on here.

VEGGIE GAMER

Will - Yeah, it was always the iPlayer for me when watching it! Shame it wasn't showed more, it is so good!!

VEGGIE GAMER

Rob - Wait... me? XD I am not sure where the scorn is (sorry if you are referring to another commenter). Blazing Saddles is the ultimate explain of laughing at dumb racists. When I said some things may not land, I mean that it is a sitcom in the 70s in a country Josh didn't grow up in, so there are going to be a lot of references missed. We are definitely laughing AT Rigsby rather than with him (even though he is quite a sympathetic character, which makes him very interesting IMO).

Rob Walters

Racial humour can be amusing and has proven so over the years, greatest example being 'Blazzing Saddles'. Your scorn at the mere suggestion of such humour is very alarming.

Rob Walters

You are surprised by 'Keeping Up Appearances' yet you are championing 'Ghosts'?!!!!! I can only assume you like your comedy, tumbleweed silence mode...

David Lyons

Roy Clarke's writing in a nutshell. Very similar gags and catchphrases week to week. See also Last of the Summer Wine and Open All Hours ;P

BR90s

Come on Ghosts

Stuart Fewtrell

It was OK for a short time, but I soon realised every episode was basically the same story.

Jake Francis

I believe what you are describing here is called an opinion

Toby

Ghosts and outnumbered are brilliant

Vickie

I really hope so - definitely my favourite choice right now.

Will

Rhod Gilbert's Work Experience is great! I think it mainly aired on BBC Wales so maybe didn't reach as big an audience.

Stuart Fewtrell

Come on, Ghosts! You can do it this time!

Vickie

I’m really surprised by how many votes Keeping up appearances got. I remember watching as a kid, when we only had a few channels and a lot fewer options but I don’t remember it being that funny. Rose and Onslow were probably the best, but overall I always thought it was a bit meh. I guess that if it wins, I will give it another shot, but I am really hoping for ghosts, goodnight sweetheart or something like that.

BigChanChan

It's ironic some people class it as outdated when it has a much stronger and smarter black character in it than what most modern British TV comedy shows have.

VEGGIE GAMER

Yeah, I get a lot of things may not land, but I think it wouldn't be any more than other shows from the 70s that he has already covered! You are right, Rossiter's performance is definitely the best part, but I still really enjoy the show as a whole! :) (laughing at racists is always good)

Sean Riley

You know I never considered Rising Damp because although Leonard Rossiter's performance is a masterclass, I feel it's humour is outdated but reconsidering now Josh loves laughing at ignorant racists. It's got my vote for it now fwiw

James Waters

Still Game, Outnumbered and Benidorm will all be watched one day surely

VEGGIE GAMER

Honestly surprised Rising Damp hasn't won before, but it is excellent! Would highly recommend, tho I know it is mostly much more modern stuff that gets picks nowadays. Would also be cool to get Citizen Smith on the polls eventually! Also voting for Rhod Gilbert Work Exprience. It is so good, but sadly not so well known.

Rob Walters

Steptoe and Son! Would love the John Sullivan worshippers to discover where he got his ideas from for OFAH.... Steptoe is the original and best!!

Dave Houiellebecq

The new statesman is fantastic another of Rik Mayalls masterpieces!

Sam

Being Human (though the 52 episodes is the US remake, UK only had 37 episodes)

khaled

Keeping Up Appearances 🤞

James Brown

Ideal for me too, haven’t seen this show myself for years so would love to rewatch it. Gotta love Johnny Vegas!

Jeffrey44

Hi Jasmine. Yes, I'm afraid I was. I actually think James Corden is a big fat sack of shit. Cheers.

Jasmine Carpenter

Are you being sarcastic?

Chad Davies

Young offenders 🇮🇪

Sean Riley

Going for Ideal, Johnny Vegas and surrealism. Maybe Charlie Brooker's Screen Wipe for a longer series

Nell Sun

'Jam' (2000) by Chris Morris is an essential Brit-com I'm surprised hasn't been suggested.

Nell Sun

I beg your pardon!

Nell Sun

Down to the dregs now mate! I can't pick 1 of those shows in good faith for you. (Maybe do some recent US series; there's been some great stuff made (Fargo; Oz; The Wire; Mr Mercedes; The Haunting of Bly Manor; Twin Peaks...) - J.

Ash Jeffries

Goodnight Sweetheart is my top pick here for you, Josh. Nick Lyndhurst playing such a different role to Rodney the plonker from Only Fools and Horses and a storyline that is fascinating and unusual for a sitcom. Honestly think you'd love it. Absolutely Fabulous is also completely up your street and I also think you'd love Ghosts. Probably my top 3.

Jeffrey44

Anything with James Corden. A true British comedy hero.

Kate

Ab Fab or Keeping up Appearances.
