I think people whose first language is English aren't used to dub, because most of the stuff they watch are in English. I'm from Ukraine and we all here grow up on dubbed movies and shows, a vast amount of people have never watched anything in English let alone Korean, so it's a completely normal thing here, and Ukrainians love our dub, even though it's a bit worse than English imo, so I watched both seasons in English, but now that I'm rewatching, together with season 1, I'm more than happy to experience the original version

Another aspect is that the dub may mistranslate lines or alter their meanings to fit the dubbing language. That and sometimes there's an inherent vibe/attitude through the original voice (most notably in Japanese anime for me vs. dubs) that doesn't come across the same way in the dub, which can lessen the impact of the scene's intent.

I agree 100% I’ve watched some movies and shows where dub ruined it for me. But squid games is the only one to make it work good in my opinion. And yeah, isn’t sub just their actual voices? That’s why it’s more natural I think

Sub 99% of the time sounds more natural than dub, dub voice acting is normally such a big hit or miss that it can ruin entire shows

I’m just curious, why do people like sub more than dub. I’d rather look past the lip movement and hear it in English, rather than having to read every word and listen to Koreans say stuff I don’t understand. Not upset or anything, just curious.

One of the coolest things to me about the very last scene, is when the camera is pointed at the recruiter’s face as he’s about to fire the last shot, half of his face (in red) shows that he is confident, while the other half (in blue) shows that he is terrified.

I agree with you. I thought in the moment it was recency bias, but over the last couple weeks as I've had more of a chance to let it marinate, I've realized that no, I genuinely do like season two a little better, and I think in large part for what you mention: it feels like they did a better job developing more of the side characters. We got a little of that in season one but it was pretty limited to two or three people outside of Gi-hun. This one, they really created a great cast of supporting players.
