If you want some knowledge of The Fantastic Four I would recommend the 2005 movie & the Sequel Rise of The Silver Surfer. They're not the best movies, but better then they get credit for. For any flaws they have, the movies do a pretty good job of nailing the personalities of the FF. The villains the failed at though

Fantastic Four (2005), Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). The only actual Disney Marvel one is Fantastic Four (2015) but it was straight up cut from the canon because it was so bad. Not only did the critics and audience not like it but the director himself said it was bad. There's a bit with Reed Richards in Multiverse of Madness but I don't think it really adds anything in terms of what to know for First Steps because it was a different reality. I'd say for sure watch 2005 and 2007. Other than that it's just up to you.

I would say the 2015 one gives the same details story and context as the 2005 one, just a little bit worse. If he wants to watch it he can, I'll still sit down and enjoy Alex's video but it's not necessary.

The 2015 Fantastic Four was okay but I wish they would’ve brought back Miles Teller as Reed Richard’s. I liked him in the roll and thought he could’ve brought something to the MCU.

I would literally just watch all three of the currently available Fantastic Four movies... the first was pretty good. The second was a little less, but pretty cool for a few reasons that you'll find out. And the third we're revamping that failed in a couple of aspects, but nailed a few others and only gets attention for the failure. But it's still pretty good. I think they would all give you at least some context.

So you probably should watch the first two just for some context, but they have nothing to do with this movie. Also, this does not take place in the main MCU timeline, but because of some avengers Multiverse stuff that’s most likely how they will connect.

Since this one doesn't seem to touch on the origins of their powers much from the trailer, you only need to watch Fantastic Four (2005), and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). You can ignore the one from 2015. Keep in mind that this new movie takes place in an alternate timeline set in the 1960. Thats why the retro high tech.
