I think this is one of those episodes where at the end the viewer feels like they've experienced practically every emotion on earth. What a masterpiece. That scene with Buck Compton in the hospital with Malarky reading a letter from home to him and Buck just curls up into a ball and can't listen anymore as Malarky is reading out loud what Buck's mother is writing to him - that he's such an exciting young man, and she's sure that he's sharing his love of basketball (or football? sorry, can't remember) with them - is one of the saddest moments of the series to me, and that's really saying something. Mental and emotional wounds are invisible but sometimes just as debilitating as physical wounds. And that scene in the church - whew!!! The faces of the men who were killed or wounded fading away while they're sitting in the pews listening to the choir.....that really just hits home. And Spiers talking about Lipton while Lipton is just standing there not getting it - that HE'S the good NCO who is always checking in on his men and is a good leader - I smiled just as big as you but it also kinda breaks your heart that Lipton apparently had no idea how much his men thought of him. A damn good leader and a damn good man. As always, excellent reaction and I can't wait to see more!
