You NEED to watch The Thin Red Line. In my opinion, it's the best and emotionally deepest war film there is. It's a WW2 film, but takes place in the Pacific theatre. It has a great ensemble cast and follows many characters and shows not just the impact of the combat but also the emotional strain and damage caused by other factors such as being so far from those you love and even the moral impact of the war on different kinds of soldiers.

I would absolutely watch Gladiator with you over Dunkirk any day.
Dunkirk is such a boring film. MUNICH, Sicario, Defiance, Zero dark Thirty, The Walking Dead (1995),

Dunkirk would be great, but I would add another recommendation to watch Gladiator at some point in the future

Sean McDonough
Dunkirk is a good pick.
