The Sentinel of Wells - Inks
🕑 Added 2020-05-28 19:57:20 +0000 UTCInks of an earlier sketch featuring Ellys Fenn, gnome explorer, and her khettu companion Ruadhán at the Sentinel of Wells. Much of the places and things they explore are on the deeper, darker, and very forgotten depths and vistas of the world. Places featuring strange 'Lewis Carroll-esque' landmarks with an abstract edifice that gives hints to incredibly ancient societies, but often ends up posing more questions than answers to what, who, or if anyone had constructed them.
Though Ellys likes the mystery.
She'd prefer to simply eat lunch and enjoy the strangely painted scene.
As a note, I'd like to apologize for being so quiet lately. Things have been, frankly, not the greatest on this end. There are a lot of things going on behind the scenes which I won't really go into, but the result has been being both physically and mentally wiped out most days of the week. I've found creating anything was becoming a huge effort, and due to this whole COVID thing my anxiety and depressive disorders have been hanging over the whole scenario like writhing black cloud.
This isn't a 'woe is me' moment, I'll get through this. But I did want to let folks know the reason I've been so detached from social visibility, art, and writing lately. It became increasingly hard to really answer anyone back until I finally hit a point where I just had to take care of some things that were 'extra weight' before I escaped into the marble in my head, and before I could interact with all of you kind folks again.
I've managed to get a couple sketches under way that I'll share in short order, as well as a couple images to ink that will also soon follow. I've picked some of the brighter/cheerier images to get lost in, and its very likely I'll be doing a colour treatment on two of them. Whether they're paintings or just illustrative colour is still up in the air.
I have some 'world' stuff under way as well. Maps and notes and writings about places that some of these images take part in. I find its therapeutic in a sense to write and create a world where things make a bit more sense to me than the madness going on lately. Its plunking a scaffolding on the wonderland, and making sure its foundation is solid.

Glad you are doing things to keep the depression at bay. Sorry you are having to deal with that. Good luck.

During this whole COVID nightmare, I've driven to my mountain, sat in my car and watched its owners chisel away at it, haul off the stone to their main site to be crushed and sold as gravel. My client hauls trailers to and from the site, some full, some empty, and I keep the neighborhood riffraff way by being there. Little happens after 6:00 PM, so I have been writing on my new purpose-bought laptop. I uploaded a story to Fur Affinity today which I started almost three years ago; with the dam broken I finished a second story this week and started a third. Not bad after two years of <i>nothing.</i>

I have to admit, I wish I had your drive! The sheer amount of work that I saw, not just on the map but the write-up of key areas was impressive. I've always enjoyed looking through things like this. I'm one of those odd folks who likes to read modules or world info like others would read novels. Its something that carried over from decades ago. Its a way to escape and get to know other worlds. Sadly I was hit hard with anxiety and depression and it just sapped the energy and creative drive from me for just over 2 weeks. Its improved now, and to be honest, seeing what you've been doing is giving me a bit of a kick in the arse to just do some delves into my rather scattered world and give it some detail. Even if its just to help with the peculiar despondence I had for the last while. I don't know if or even what I'd be able to share here, as its primarily a place for artworks, but maybe a bit of it could be interesting. I need to approach it as something to do for myself personally though.

I have been working on the game in the quarantine, new spell list for the magicians, and more detail for Seahaven. Much more. The full key is up to 235 pages. I'm dragging myself along day by day. Not seeing anyone but my wife for weeks, I like my wife, but the mind craves change. Some days I can't get beyond staring at youtube all day.
