Devlog, "the quest for more stuff" edition
🕑 Added 2019-10-30 22:53:17 +0000 UTCHello all I hope you're having a great week. I worked on the game a lot and I'm almost done refactoring Mia's scene. I would have completed it this week and probably an additional scene, but my fingers started to hurt a little bit so I decided to take it easy and focus on thinking of new quests for the game. I came up with a lot of good ones. By the way, I think this Mia scene is the second hardest scene to refactor and I've already refactor the hardest one, so it feels like it's all downhill from here.

Here's a picture showing all the quests I've come up with to date. The ones that were already there are circled in red. As you can see, I've come up with a lot of new ones , more than doubling what I currently have. I'm also planning on revealing the map gradually instead of giving you full access at the beginning of the game. The way it will work is quests or events will unlock new locations.
I've also come up with a personality for Amy (demon) that I am much more comfortable with. Before I had her as a nerdy yet extroverted demon, but now I've changed her into somebody who wants to do evil but is really bad at it and ends up doing good things unintentionally. She doesn't even realize the effects she's having are beneficial. it is going to be a lot easier to write scenes for her with a personality like this.
The downside to this change is I no longer have a nerdy person in the game. I was always worried that Hannah and Amy were too similar in personality so my first thought was to make Hannah become a nerdy character now. But then Hannah would be a nerdy person who is gullible , paranoid, and a conspiracy theorist. Although it's reasonable for a person to have a personality like that, I think it kind of waters Hannah down add nerdiness on top of her existing personality. Maybe it would make sense to have Kira be the nerdy one in the game, but that doesn't seem like a perfect fit either. If any of you have any suggestions I'm interested in them.
Also, soon I'll be looking for a full-time monster girl artist, so if you have a personal favorite that is open to commissions let me know! Here's this week's devlog:
- Add nofade to appropriate places in Eva's field dialog - prevents the dialogue from disappearing when a menu pops up. This way if you skip dialogue you can still have enough context to see what the question is about.
- Mia's expressions in the shy dialogue exist - For the following features, when I say shy dialogue, I mean the dialogue with Mia before she has introduced herself to you and the initial introduction.
- quest states should be set in the Mia shy dialogue
- Mia shy menus should only show up at appropriate times
- Menus in the Mia shy scene that subtract energy should have an icon by them and they should subtract energy
- Add nofade to appropriate places in Mia's shy dialogue
- Mia should appear automatically after you've met her
- Mia's normal dialogue should exist - Normal dialogue is the dialogue after you've been introduced Mia.
- quest states / script states should be set in the Mia normal dialogue
- Mia normal menus should only show up at appropriate times
- subtract energy menus should be disabled if you don't have enough energy
- Mia's expressions in the normal dialogue exist
- background changes should exist in Mia's sex scene

Bawdy Ink Slinger
Well she was never a succubus, but she still may be extroverted. I couldn't think of anything to do with her before, now I have lots of ideas.

The whole 'nerdy extroverted succubus' thing. We didn't see very much of her in the demo version I played, but I liked what was there. That new character for her, on the other hand, just doesn't sound interesting.

What did you like about her that has changed?
Wild Bill
I don't know, I liked Amy. That new idea for her doesn't sound like much fun to me.
