Poll for future IASM updates due to delays
🕑 Added 2025-01-09 13:39:01 +0000 UTCHey everyone. Unfortunately, Gaijin still hasn't updated the GitHub repository for sound modders to the new Storm Warning update. There's been no new info on when it'll update either. This is rather disappointing and is the reason why the upcoming mod update has been delayed so much.
So, due to these recent delays, I’d like to propose a potential solution. Generally, I’ve avoided using masterbank files to give everyone the flexibility to combine IASM with other sound mods, though with some limitations. To avoid future delays caused by Gaijin taking ages, I could start using masterbank files. This would allow me to manually add any missing sounds, such as engine and gun sounds, and pretty much update the mod right after any new major game updates.
As you can guess, though, this means that mixing IASM with other sound mods will not be possible anymore, so I'm leaving the choice up to you.

Depends on if Gaijin actually updates the Github. It'll only be one or the other since otherwise it would be way too much work

I'm a bit (VERY) late to the poll, and I don't want to give you too much extra work; However, do you think it's feasible to do both versions? That way people like me who don't care about using most other sound mods can go ahead and just use the masterbank, while others can still have the capabilities to mix and match as they please? 💭 Just a thought, and thanks for your hard work bro!

I have decided to postpone the next update till after the next major. That is, unless Gaijin updates the repo within the next 2 weeks. We've had absolutely no word from anyone so far, though. If it does get postponed, the next mod update will be bigger in size to make up for the delay. It'll at the very least include the Eurofighter, Rafale and A-4 RWR, with the possibility of adding the RWR for whatever aircraft is a part of that update. Expect a ton of fixes and other minor additions too such as a possible Eurofighter VWS and new MAW sounds.

With how painfully long this is taking, maybe a masterbank version of the mod could be made for *this* version before we end up having the next major update before the new repo?

Word from Gaijin said that it won't mess with sound mods. I haven't run into any issues myself either.

Since Warthunder has changed from EasyAntiCheat to BattlEye will that screw with sound mods and etc any?

As I think most people do. Like I said to someone else in the poll. The main idea of the poll is to more or less for me to get an understanding of people's opinion on the change. If the results are too close for example, I might end up not going through with it since it would negatively impact too many people

I think its best to not use masterbank files, the best thing about this soundmod is that it can be mixed with other sound mods. When this mod is up to date I use it alongside RCSM and it works great. With masterbank files however it will break this sadly.

Others have asked the same, but Probably not, since the inner set up would be quite different from each other, meaning that I'd have to rework stuff to then not be dependent on the masterbanks. It's either one or the other.

Is there any chance you could maintain two different versions of mod, one with masterbank and one without?

Personally i don't care about either option since i don't use other sound mods. But because there also are a few people that want to use other mods,it would be a little bit unfair imo. I don't care about waiting a little longer.

I may not be personally affected since I don't use mods with masterbanks (I just use a silly sound mod to change missiles to play free bird) but I don't wanna see it break mods for other people

If you remove their masterbank you might be able to get it to work to an extent. Though, you'd have to test that out yourself. Also, I'd like to point out that the entire idea of the poll is to more or less for me to get an understanding of people's opinion on the change. I like the flexibility tbh. For example i'm sad that ETSM is using masterbank because i can't combine it with you mod which would be god tier sounds imo.

Could you perhaps release two different versions of the mod? One immediately after a major update using masterbank files, and another that does not once Gaijin updates the GitHub?
