UPDATE: Sorry everyone, the version I uploaded previously had a mistake in it where a video was overlaid over a slide before it should have appeared. Happy almost Thanksgiving to my American viewers! Tis the season for insane commercialism (normally, when we're not mid-plague), and this week's bonus video looks at that little corporation that could, Walmart. Here's the description:
Walmart is one of the biggest companies in America. But what happens when they try and pretend like they're just a tiny little upstart? Hilarity ensues! Buckley takes a look at a recent ad campaign up here in Canada as they try their hand at that viral influencer marketing all the cool kids were talking about 5 years ago!

It always catches me off guard when Buckley displays how much he actually knows about some stuff. Like being able to tell the type of microphone wind noise would be recorded by. It makes sense, since he seems to have a whole career of audio-based jobs, and he cares a lot about the quality of his own work, so he has to know about this stuff, but it's still a nice surprise sometimes. Also: ads are being made by production companies spending a ton of effort to make it seem amateurish. I know sex sells, but I wasn't expecting the ad industry to follow the porn industry like that.

I noticed the raid shadows thing too, looks like it was covered accidentally. Anyways, I've always hated ads like that. I got "sponsored" by a small accessory site that I got a couple masks from, but I'll still mention the bad shit and make it known that I was asked to do it.
