Now I know who the idiots were who bought tickets to the Jets/Chiefs game last weekend just to be in the same general area as Taylor even though they had no clue what football even is and never saw Taylor in person because she was in a sky box the whole time and then snuck out the back after the game.

Might be missing something here (re: more people born, therefore more expensive tickets) but the fees for Ticketmaster don't seem proportional to the demand of people trying to go see the shows I go to. For metal concerts, I often end up paying as much in ticketing fees as the ticket. For reference, shows in my area are around 40 each, and the fees are generally around that. If its not trying to see a mega-popstar, I generally think tickets are too expensive when I cannot buy them direct-from-venue.

I bought tickets to a boxing match in 2017, walked right up to Korakuen Hall's ticket office a few hours before the show and got 4th row on the floor. It's actually really cool how you can also buy tickets from Lawsons and other convenience stores (though I assume there are online methods as well).

Live streams to theaters are actually a super big business here in Japan BUT they are reasonably priced (like 30USD or less, usually with a pamphlet or something you couldn't get at the live) and are high quality and have camera set ups so the live viewings get the same or even better than in person experience. During Covid, artists learned they could make more money and have happier fans if they offered more livestreams. Even many to home audiences. Again, for a reasonable livesstream price though not full in venue ticket price. Also we don't have weirdass ticketmaster buying up all the tickets to scalp. So you actually just pay for your ticket through ticket agencies.

Yeah. Just do it. There's not a high possibility of a concussion in amateur boxing, you wear headgear and 10 - 12oz gloves (unless your country has some differences, but even adult men wear headgears here up until the International level competitions) and fights are generally stopped before a knockout (if you take a really hard punch and get your head knocked back, they give an 8 count, and if you still seem wobbly, they stop the fight, so you don't get anything too bad). I'd say give it a shot, train hard for it (make sure you can run 5k without it killing you, 200 punches a round for 4 rounds on the heavybag) and especially at the level of someone's first fight, cardio is the biggest difference maker. If you can still be throwing good punches in the 3rd round while they're gassed out (which happens a lot because amateurs don't have the time to train/don't realize how hard they need to train for a 3 round fight) you've got a good chance of winning.

completely unrelated question- I know you were/are boxing, and I recently started (10 months ago) despite being like 19 years too old to achieve anything in this sport. I enjoyed lighter sparrings, but I'm not sure if I should step in the ring (as an amateur). Sounds kinda scary due to high possibility of a concussion but a parts of me wants to do it and try it. Do you have any advice?
