About a year and a half ago, a beer company sent 6 cans of beer to an Instagram influencer and suffered so badly for it, "getting Bud Lighted" has become the new term for everyone not buying your product anymore. So, how does Bud Light bounce back? By going the complete other way! Buckley looks at their latest spokesperson (a man who also knows what it's like to suffer online backlash, Shane Gillis), who they just gave an estimated $200 million to in order to say to their former drinkers "we're sorry, please come back", and, most importantly... is Kid Rock a Bud Light drinker again?!

I'd wager it's because they can look tough drinking 5 cans at 5%ABV. I've known some "heavy drinkers" to get drunk off a couple glasses of local beer.

Oh for sure, I think that's definitely a thing in that culture, bro-y/bar culture in general. "just get a normal beer don't be a fairy with your EYE PEE AAYYs", and yes some have suggested that people got away from Bud Light because of the boycott/pressure from their side to no longer drink it, and discovered other beers and went "Oh. These taste good. We've been drinking garbage this whole time".

An argument to the contrary. I used to be moderately conservative and I felt pressure to drink the "man's" beer like bud light, and not the sissy craft beer. I hate bud light. I think this is an opportunity for people in that situation not to have to drink it, because it sucks. But that doesn't excuse using someone else's identity as a scapegoat for your insecurity.

I previously worked for a beer company doing community relations and Kid Rock ruined my life - actually a major reason I stopped working with them. All of us thought it would be nothing long term. Whoops!

I actually have always called it "pop", which is why I said "soda" weird (a shot at the people who got upset about me saying "pop" once). But yeah I think some people say soda here, or may even just call everything "coke".

In all seriousness, I'm roughly two hours south of you in the states "as the crow flies" and it's known as "pop" here. Does Canada call carbonated soft drinks by different names according to region like the US does?

Honestly, I don’t drink Bud light not cause of whoever is the spokesperson is, I don’t drink out cause is piss water. I rather drink a Heineken or Modelo or a Stella, or Samuel Adams, or Sapporo beer.

Bud Light is just like most American beers - diluted piss. Fuckin’ milk is stronger. Get on the Aussie beers - XXXX, Great Northern and VB is a real beer… and Fosters. We really should be into that more than we are. I don’t get this hang-up in America over a beer that shouldn’t be popular for how weak and shit it is.
