Journey actually did a cover of this song on their 2nd album before Steve Perry joined them and Gregg Rollie, formerly from Santana singing Black Magic Woman, among others, was their singer. They give it a radically different and much more melodic atmosphere and I hate to say I much prefer it to the Beatles version, which is great in it's own odd chaotically beautiful way, but Journey's is much more accessible. You should check it out.
According to Harrison, he was on organ, and he thought that McCartney handled the guitar, that would leave Lennon to play the bass. At the time, the John and George were known to use a Fender VI when they had to play bass. It is possible that there as a bass overdub too. But, experts still discuss who did what on this track, as the only knowns were Harrison on organ and Starr on percussion.
