Earlier during that year, I was diagnosed with Hepatitis (getcher mind out of the gutter, it was traced back to a dentist's office improperly sterilizing utensils). I asked my doctor what's the treatment and he said "Nothing. Go home and rest. 90% of patients fully recover after a few months, and about 10% die" (spoiler alert - I was one of the 90%). I had just recently moved out to a place of my own (again, minds out of the gutter) but being no dummy I promptly moved back to my parents place so my mother could spoil . . . err, assist in my recovery. So my recollection of Live Aid was laying spaced-out on the couch watching every single minute. Good times. Quick anecdote about what an impeccable ear Sting has. The Police were recording in some Caribbean island studio and Sting kept complaining during the playbacks that something "wasn't right". The crew started checking the equipment with a fine tooth comb, and finally someone noticed that the generator powering the studio was outputting just a few volts below normal, causing the tape to be played back very slightly slow. And that's what Sting was picking up on. Some things you just can't be taught - you either got it or you don't.
