So that's definitely an option, what we found in our testing was a few things 1) Obviously, you can't use an actual VPN of your choice if you use this method, so you're constantly hooked up to Netguard 2) we noticed increased RAM usage + battery drain when hooked up to a VPN, which on a device that isn't very powerful to begin with, is a bigger deal than we wanted. VPN is def an option we looked at though!

Just picked one up on prime day. Instead of the metered network stuff download an open source app called Netguard - it runs a local VPN and you can block network access to system apps and add hosts files to block other stuff. Been using it for years.
